Hold on tight everyone, the 2025 season is about to launch and it's going to be epic! See below for a summary of what's ahead.

Note: registration for these events are not open yet.  We are finalising some coach appointments, equipment and supplies, IT systems and a few more important elements to get you onto the court this season.

SEASON SUMMARIES

Ready Set Spike!

Our new skills development program will deliver exactly what it says!  Learn the fundamentals through intensive skills work in the Beginner Program, accelerate your game by learning offence & defence, transitioning, tactics and teamwork, and modified game play through TripleBall during the Advanced Program.  Then you're ready to launch into the Junior Social Competition and Junior Volleyball League!

Ready Set Spike! will be delivered at PCYC Lake Macquarie in Term 1 (Beginner) and Term 2 (Advanced), as well as Maitland High School in Term 1 Beginner (Mondays) and Advanced (Wednesdays).

Training & Skill Development Programs

For players aged 17 and above, and adults, you'll level-up your current abilities so that you can maximise your time on court with great techniques, better decision making, and more intense rallies for the ultimate enjoyment of the game.

Over the course of the program, you'll get maximum reps delivered by experienced coaches who can help shape you into the volleyball player you want to be, for the volleyall season you're aiming to compete in.

The Training & Skill Development Program will be delivered Maitland High School Wednesday evenings.

U18 Intermediate Players' Open Gym games

At PCYC Lake Macquarie we'll hold open gym social games for intermediate players, still working their way into the JVL compeittion level of play. Over 9 weeks there'll be a court waiting for you to come and play, meet new friends, get some tips to help your game, and learn more about what's on offer for experienced Juniors throughout the year.

Registration is essential as there are limited spaces available. The venue also requires a PCYC Junior Membership ($15) for everyone competing there.

Mixed Recreational Competitions

For those new to the game, or returning to the after time away, get amongst the fun and new friendships in the Mixed Recreational Competitions.  No uniforms, no worries, it's a relaxed season where you can learn the game, learn the rules, make new friends and discover (or remember!) the thrill of the game with great playlists always on offer.  It's also becoming the place for teens to join their parents in spirited competition, bridging the generation gap with on-court competitive rivalry!

Players can register as an individual and we'll place you in a team, or you can bring a full team (minimum 8 members) for the season.

Mixed Recreational competitions will be run at Maitland High School on Wednesday nights (February - April) and Broadmeadow Basketball Stadium on Tuesday nights (May-July).

Details about addititional Spring competitions in Maitland and Newcastle will be confirmed in May 2025.

Graded Social Competitions

For the experienced player, there are options to compete in Graded competitions which are played at various venues.

The 2025 kicks off in February at the Newcastle Basketball Stadium:

  • A and B Grade men's and women's divisions will play between February - May
  • C Grade competitions then start in May, running through to July

The Women's A and B Grade divisions resume in October, running through until December.

From July - December at the Newcastle Basketball Stadium, the A, B and C Grade men's competitions play their long, main season from July through to December.

Junior League and Premier League Competitions

The region's most experienced Juniors (18 and under) play their JVL Season through Winter, competing for the honour of the 2025 JVL Championship, combined with the chance of winning Most Improved and Most Valuable player awards.

The most experienced seniors contest the Premier Volleyball League through Winter also, putting on show big serves, big spikes and blocks, and big game energy.  It's quite the spectacle so stay tuned for season dates and how to get involved (or spectate) this season's best matches.
